The Monards Christmas Special
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to our Monards fans! In this video, Bernard and Martin pick what we think each other would like to find under the tree this holiday season.
Martin's Picks
Martin selects some absolute bangers to complement Bernard's current collection, with models that pay tribute to history, but have a small twist in their materials, design and aesthetic.
TAG Heuer
Carrera Chronograph "Dato"
This pick was to complement Bernard's collection with something that paid tribute to the history of Heuer and TAG Heuer, whilst introducing new design elements to the Carrera with the "glassbox" construction.
Blancpain
Bathyscaphe, Black Ceramic
Martin believes that Bernard's collection needs to have some high-tech materials re-introduced into stable, and so he went with this model with its ceramic case, and its high-performance movement, with anti-magnetic protection and five-day power reserve.
OMEGA
Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional
The Moonshine Gold was Martin's pick if Santa deemed Bernard an extra good person this year, and its easy to see why. A bright, yet sumptuous 18k Moonshine Gold case, the signature Speedmaster design, and a rubber strap to tone down the yellow gold makes for an unbeatable combination.
Bernard's Picks
Bernard also went with the theme of complementing Martin's collection, whilst suggesting some watches that he may not have picked for himself.
CHOPARD
L.U.C. Heritage Grand Cru
The tonneau (barrel) shaped case of the L.U.C. Heritage Grand Cru made it Bernard's pick to complement Martin's collection - and it has a tonneau shaped movement to match the case, a detail much appreciated by connoisseurs.
Glashutte Original
PanoMaticLunar
Martin has not done a watch with the signature German features of a three-quarter plate, or an engraved balance bridge. Pair this with the asymmetrical layout, and the watch is the perfect complement to a collection that until this point was completely practical.
TUDOR
Black Bay Chrono
Bernard's pick for a go-anywhere-do-anything watch, the Black Bay Chrono was meant to complement Martin's practical nature in collecting, featuring screw-down pushers, a manufacture movement and good everyday water resistance that even enables him to be pushed in to the pool if the occasion arises.
