The Fifty Fathoms Tech - A Classic Made Modern
The new Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Tech stems from a question that CEO Marc A. Hayek asked himself: "If the Fifty Fathoms were invented today, what would it look like?". It is a design that stems from the earlier Tech Gombessa intended for use with rebreathing equipment - the Fifty Fathoms Tech not only combines technical brilliance but its splash of colour also gives it an urban style that is unlike any Fifty Fathoms that came before it.
In its modernity, the new Fifty Fathoms Tech utilises a 45mm Grade 23 titanium case, renowned for its bio-compatibility and strength-to-weight ratio. Befitting its functional nature the dial is ultra legible, made from a proprietary material dubbed "Absolute Black", which absorbs up to 97% of light to give prominence to the blocks of SuperLuminova that comprise the hour markers.
Even though it bears a lugless design, the watch is throughly modern with its interchangeable strap system - a first for Blancpain, coming in black, white or orange variants.
The Fifty Fathoms Tech is equipped with the brand's sports-oriented Calibre 1315 - with 5 days of power reserve, and a silicon hairspring, the watch combines its modern design with modern sensibilities and traditional watchmaking.
