TUDOR Novelties 2021

May 2021

At Watches and Wonders, TUDOR unveiled its latest additions to the Black Bay collection: the Chrono and Fifty-Eight 925.

Black Bay Chrono

Celebrating five decades of its sports chronographs, TUDOR has relaunched the Black Bay Chrono. Housed within a reworked case, it’s equipped with a high-performance, in-house automatic movement. The brand has always been synonymous with motorsports and professional diving – this iteration is the best of both worlds.

The Spirit of Earth and Sea

Taking inspiration from the first generation of TUDOR chronographs, the Black Bay Chrono features a 45-minute totaliser, date display positioned at 6 o’clock and stainless steel pushers. At the same time, the recognisable characteristics of the Black Bay are also preserved. Most notably, TUDOR’s signature “Snowflake” hand.

Available in two dial variants – either matte black or white opaline with contrast sub-registers. Boasting a 70-hour power reserve and COSC certification, Calibre MT5813 is crafted in the purest watchmaking tradition with a column wheel mechanism and vertical clutch. Robust, reliable and guaranteed a workhorse.

Jacquard-Woven Straps, Steel Bracelets or Cuffs

TUDOR’s fabric straps are one of a kind and ensure these dive watches remain comfortable on any wrist. Woven on 19th century Jacquard looms by Julien Faure – a 150-year-old family business in the St-Etienne region of France. Fun fact: Last year, both manufacturers celebrated a decade of partnership that once originated with the Heritage Chrono.

The Black Bay Chrono is also presented with two other bracelet options. Mounted on steel bracelets inspired by folding riveted examples of the 1950s and ’60s as well as Steve McQueen’s favourite bund strap. The latter pays tribute to the spirit of 1970s racing.

Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925

Introducing a unique TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight model crafted in 925 silver featuring an exhibition case back. Both, a first for the fan favourite diver. It’s this duality between utilitarianism and aesthetic that makes it a charming addition to the collection.

An Incandescent Brilliance

Faithful to the reference 7924 (nicknamed “Big Crown”), it possesses the distinctive qualities of a tool watch and more – including 200m water resistance, 39mm proportions and a proprietary sterling silver alloy that will remain unchanged over time.

Accentuating the precious metal is a taupe dial and bezel insert, alongside fabric strap with complementing colour palette. From a design perspective, this is a well-executed timepiece. At the heart of TUDOR’s Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 is its Calibre MT5400. Built for precision, longevity and “weekend-proof”.

TUDOR timepieces are available for purchase at our 101 Collins Street, and Gold Coast boutiques. Or, discover online.
