THE ITALIAN AUDACITY REVOLUTIONISES SWISS WATCHMAKING

One year after winning the “Aiguille d’Or”, Bvlgari sparkles again at Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve 2022 with two prestigious awards.

The 2022 edition of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) was held on November 10 in Geneva. During the official ceremony BVLGARI was awarded twice by the international jury composed of 30 highly recognised watchmaking experts from press, social media and retail: the highly coveted Audacity Prize went to the game-changing Octo Finissimo Ultra watch, while the Serpenti Misteriosi High Jewellery watch won in the Jewellery category.

“The Audacity Prize embodies Bulgari’s daring DNA since 140 years, applied to watchmaking, and it is a true recognition of our achievement in creating the Octo Finissimo Ultra. This game-changing mechanical timepiece, which is just 1.80 mm thin, combines the exceptional micro-mechanical mastery of Bulgari watch masters with the new world of artistical digital creativity and traceability of NFTs. This masterpiece symbolises Bulgari’s pioneering spirit, encapsulates the Brand’s boldness in innovating new fields like luxury Boutique Hotels or ultra-premium Handbags – a unique feat in today’s luxury landscape; it showcases our 360 degrees approach to luxury strongly fused with experiential dimensions, which is so emblematic of our brand’s soul”, said Jean- Christophe Babin, CEO Bulgari Group.

2022 is the culmination of Octo, which celebrates this year its 10th anniversary becoming the first and so far, only watchmaking icon of the 21st century with more than 60 international awards – another unrivaled record in watchmaking history – in just 10 years. The Octo Saga with eight consecutive records in terms of slimness has accelerated the success of this unique design and technology and established Bulgari as the master of the art of ultra-thin and contemporary elegance, as well as one of the most inspiring and desirable luxury watch brands of the 21st century with the daring Octo, Serpenti or Lvcea timepieces reshaping the market with their strong design pedigrees and technological substances.

“We are very proud to receive the award for the Serpenti Misteriosi High Jewellery watch, – commented Antoine Pin, Managing Director of Bulgari Watch Division. “Serpenti is Bulgari’s iconic watch and this model perfectly demonstrates our ability to merge and magnify the arts of fine watchmaking and high jewellery. Powered by the in-house Piccolissimo calibre, the smallest round mechanical movement in the market today, it is a true embodiment of our expertise in the art of miniaturisation. This watch fully demonstrates the talent of our designers, engineers, watchmakers and all the teams involved into the project – this prize goes to them for their passion and dedication to create objects of exceptional beauty and mechanical perfection”.
